Today we review the Top 10 Best Electric Scooters for Kids in 2022

As a parent, you’d want to see your kids engage in physical activities rather than lead a sedentary lifestyle.

Physical activities not only make children grow healthy but also enables them to see the world from their own perspective.

One effective way to keep children physically active is by getting them an ideal electric scooter for kids.

Getting an electric scooter for your child is a fun and inexpensive way for your children to get outdoors, engage in some physical activities and take in some fresh air.

Electric scooters that are designed for kids are obviously less powerful, less speedy, and equipped with robust braking systems, thus ensuring kids stay safe as they ride.

Besides, they are a lot more affordable as compared to adult scooters.

If you’re looking for an ideal scooter for your kids, it can be a lot more daunting, thanks to the numerous kid electric scooters available in the market today.

Nonetheless, depending on the age and weight of your kid, you can easily land an ideal scooter that will marvel your kid and enable them to explore the outside world effortlessly.

We’ve rounded up the Top 10 Best Electric Scooters for Kids in 2022, to help you to choose only the best for your child.

Summary of the GoTrax GKS

The GoTrax GKS Electric Scooter is an excellent scooter for kids providing great entertainment at the highest safety levels.

The scooter features a kid-friendly design encompassing a sturdy steel frame, an expansive, spacious deck lined with a thin layer of sandpaper-feel material, and pared-back handlebars clad in a grippy, colourful rubber for maximum grip when riding.

What’s more, the scooter integrates the innovative “Safe Start Technology,” providing maximum safety when riding. With this technology, the motor doesn’t kick until the rider (in this case, your child) places both feet securely and firmly on the deck.

Still, on the Safe Start Technology, the scooter constitutes two evenly spaced pressure sensors located towards the front of the scooter and the other towards the rear.

To begin the ride, your kid needs to effortlessly place one foot on the front button and kick to go. Once in motion, your kid needs to put their foot on the rear button to engage the motor and accelerate as desired.

This technology ensures that your child only begins to accelerate when in a stable and balanced riding position. As such, there is no chance of the scooter accelerating without your child being in a safe riding position, throwing them off the scooter to the ground.

The GKS offers decent performance for kids. It’s fitted with a 150 Watt Motor with a top speed of up to 7. 5mph (12.07 Km/h)-fast enough for kids.

However, the motor isn’t powerful enough to tackle inclines; therefore, the scooter is not suitable for hilly neighbourhoods. The scooter is equipped with a compact 25.2V/ 4 WH Li-ion Battery that provides a range of 4 miles (6.4 Km) or 40 minutes of actual riding time.

The battery charges to capacity in 5 hours, which is quite long considering the short-range. The scooter features a little LED light on the charger indicating whether the charging is complete and ready to ride (green light) or if the scooter is still charging (red light).

Regarding ride quality, the GoTrax GKS Electric Scooter offers decent riding comfort on paved terrains typical of streets and bumpy pavements.

The scooter features maintenance-free 6″ solid rubber tyres that soak up vibrations, making it glide effortlessly on asphalt and concrete roads. The scooter can also tackle grassy lawns, but the surfaces need to be solid and well maintained.

Like most kid scooters, the GoTrax GKS kid scooter lacks suspensions meaning it won’t handle bumpy terrains.

Nonetheless, its solid rubber wheels offer at least a basic level of shock absorption when ridden on well-maintained pavements and roads.

The scooter’s desk is also spacious and lined with grip tape, providing enhanced stability and, consequently, ride comfort. However, we wish that the deck would be lined with rubber rather than a rough sandpaper-like grip tape. All in all, it still offers sufficient grip, impacting the ride quality positively.

The GoTrax GKS kid scooter is safe for kids to ride thanks to the safe step technology coupled with effective braking. To brake, the scooter relies on a mechanical brake located over the rear wheel.

To slow down the scooter, your kid needs to simply take their foot off the back button to automatically disengage the motor and press down on the fender to bring it to a complete halt.

One thing to note regarding braking is that the scooter lacks a handbrake on the handlebar, meaning that your kid may have difficulties braking, primarily if they’re used to the hand-operated brake from their bicycle. Nonetheless, they’ll get used to the scooter’s braking within a short time.

While the GKS electric scooter is lightweight, weighing only 17.8 lbs. (8 Kg), it doesn’t fold.

This significantly hinders its portability-you cannot take it on holiday for your kid. Nonetheless, even if it’s not foldable, your child won’t have any trouble carrying it around.

The GoTrax GKS comes in five different two-tone colour scheme combinations, including pink, red, green, blue, and purple, giving your child a comprehensive option when it comes to colour choices based on their personality.

Your girl will definitely be attracted to the striking bubblegum pink, while your boy will settle for the blue accents or the charcoal black frame with red accents.

Overall, the GoTrax GKS is an excellent scooter for kids. It isn’t built for performance but for safety as your kid is slowly introduced to the world of scooters. Note that it doesn’t come with a headlight or rear light, making riding at night unsafe.

Is the GoTrax GKS Value for Money?

Designed for kids, the GoTrax GKS offers excellent value for money. With a lightweight frame, safe step technology, durable wheels, child-friendly speed, and wide colour options, this scooter is indeed ideal for kids.

Better still, it’s available at a competitive price enabling you to get a present for your kid without breaking the bank.

Who is the GoTrax GKS Suitable for?

The GoTrax GXLV2 is best for kids aged between 6 and 12 years.

The scooter can accommodate riders weighing up to 154 lb. (70 Kg), which is just the right weight for that age bracket. The scooter is also user-friendly, meaning new riders won’t have any trouble riding it.

Summary of the Segway Ninebot Zing E10

The Segway Ninebot eKickscooter Zing e10 is a kid sports scooter coming with a slim and lightweight design.

Its frame boasts a slick, matte grey colour with eye-popping electric blue accents lining the fringes of the E10’s deck. The design integrates dynamic-shaped handlebars clad in thermoplastic rubber (TPB) with good handgrips providing riders with adequate control.

The scooter features a sturdy, aviation-grade aluminium alloy frame that is both lightweight and durable. The handlebar stem is sleek and stripped-back, giving the scooter a modern vibe. The excellent build quality makes the scooter robust and durable.

The Ninebot eKickscooter is a strong performer in the kid scooter category.

The scooter comes with a powerful motor of 150W (200 W Max) that revs up to a top speed of 10 miles per hour (16.09 km/h), just enough to exhilarate your kid. The scooter also encompasses three riding modes, i.e., Safe, Cruise, and Turbo, allowing kids to choose their preferred speed based on their level of riding experience.

The motor is strong enough to conquer 7% hill grade making the scooter ideal for slightly hilly neighbourhoods.

The motor also integrates Cruise Mode allowing your kids to get comfortable when riding. Your kid can simply kick to start the scooter with the cruise mode and continue to glide without needing to press the throttle. The harder they kick, the faster the acceleration.

The scooter comes fitted with an integrated battery design. It integrates the lithium-ion battery, controller, and BMS intelligent battery control system into one module.

There are 18650 high-rate batteries with a discharge capacity twice that of ordinary batteries in the battery pack. As such, the scooter offers plenty of power with an incredible range of 6.2 miles or 40 to 45 minutes of active ride time.

For adults, the 6.2 miles range may appear short, but it is quite long for kids. Even so, if the battery dies halfway on a journey, it can still function as a typical kick scooter. The battery completes charging in four hours-just the average charging time.

The Ninebot Zing E10 is comfortable to ride. In fact, it’s among the few kid electric scooters that offer outstanding ride quality.

The scooter comes with springy, high elastic rubber tyres coupled with a front shock absorber. The tubeless pneumatics tyres enhance dampening, providing utmost comfort when riding.

The front shock absorbers also absorb impacts and vibrations from bumps and rough terrains. The deck is also coated with a silicone, anti-skid surface providing maximum stability and comfort.

With the combination of high elastic rubber tyres and a front spring shock absorption system, your kid is assured of comfortable rides on different terrains, including grass, dirt, and sand roads.

Braking is a crucial factor in kid scooters to ensure maximum safety. The Ninebot Zing e10 comes with a dual braking system encompassing both an electronic and rear brake.

The braking combination brings the scooter to a smooth halt.

The electronic brake is engaged via the left brake handle located on the front left side of the handlebars, just like on any kid’s bicycle, while the rear brake is foot-operated. Both brakes can be used independently, but braking works more efficiently and precisely when engaged simultaneously.

Unlike most electric scooters, the Ninebot eKickscooter Zing e10 can be folded easily thanks to the hands-free folding mechanism.

Your child can simply fold it down by placing their foot on the scooter’s front folding pedal, pushing it down, and collapsing the stem down to the deck.

Besides, the scooter is highly portable, weighing only 18.7 lbs (8.5Kg). The lightweight structure allows for ease of carrying, even for teens. The scooter becomes very compact, easy to carry, and convenient to store in a car boot when folded.

Kids can ride the scooter at night thanks to the 3M rear reflectors and ambient deck lights, which provide a combination of visibility and aesthetics.

The lighting can be customized based on the riding mode with different lighting effects. However, the scooter doesn’t come with a front headlight limiting night use.

In addition to its outstanding performance, the Zing e10 comes with some impressive highlights, including a battery management system, IPX4 water resistance rating, and cruise control.

Overall, it’s one of the most performance-centered and technologically advanced kid scooters.

Is the Segway Ninebot Zing E10 Value for Money?

From its specs and features, the Zing e10 offers real value for money.

Long-range, powerful motor, sturdy build, cruise control, water resistance, high ride quality with anti-skid tires are some of the scooter’s highlights that justify its price.

Who is the Segway Ninebot Zing E10 Suitable for?

The Zing e10 is perfect for children between the ages of 8-14 years, weighing 132 lbs (59Kg) and a height of 4’3”-5’3’’ (130–160 cm).

Since it’s an averagely fast scooter, it’s best for kids with some riding experience, preferably those graduating from a kiddy scooter to a teen scooter.

For younger kids below the age of eight years, you can choose the Zing e8. It has precisely the same features and colour options as the Zing e10 but with a reduced top speed, i.e., 8.6 mph, to accommodate young children safely.

    The Razor E300 Electric Scooter

    red  Extremely long charging time

    red  No reflectors or lights

    red  Not foldable

    red  High maintenance chain motor

    Summary of the Razor E300

The Razor E300 electric scooter offers more than performance.

It’s an outstanding electric scooter designed for kids past the age of 13 years. It comes with a similar design to the Razor’s other E-series electric scooters involving a solid steel frame with a curved deck that swoops up to cover the rear wheel.

The scooter comes in a wide range of bright colours, including blue, which is visually appealing to young teenagers.

However, the super-sized deck and frame combined with extra-wide tyres make it appear chunky rather than sleek. Its sturdy frame can accommodate teen riders up to 220 pounds (100 Kg).

Performance-wise, the scooter comes with a powerful 250W high-torque, single-speed, chain-driven motor that can propel the scooter to a top speed of 15 mph (24 Km/h).

Owing to its high speed, the Razor E300 is among the fastest kid electric scooters, therefore suitable for kids who value speed. While the motor is chain-driven, it’s extra quiet, adding to its benefits.

The twist-grip throttle allows kids to seamlessly accelerate the scooter to their desired speed.

The scooter comes with a rechargeable 24V (two 12V) sealed lead-acid battery system that offers up to 7.5 miles or 45 minutes of continuous use.

However, the range will vary based on the speed and the terrain you’re riding the scooter.

When compared to other kid electric scooters, this range is quite average and would suit your child. However, the battery takes 10- 12 hours to charge fully, a major downside of the scooter. Twelve hours of charging and 45 minutes of usage makes no sense.

The Razor E300 strives to offer a comfortable ride experience.

It comes with a spacious deck and wide wheels. The pneumatic tyres measure 9 inches and are air-filled, coming in handy to offer shock absorption, ensuring the ride is less bumpy.

Besides, the extra-wide wheels help to support more weight-the reason the scooter can comfortably accommodate riders weighing up to 220 pounds. The deck is lined with non-skid material ensuring riders are stable and comfortable while riding.

The scooter, however, lacks shock absorbers compromising the overall ride quality. Nonetheless, the thick pneumatic front and back tyres stand in for the lack of shock absorption providing riders with smooth rides over rough surfaces.

The Razor E300 employs hand-operated rear mechanical braking.

To brake, your child needs to simply pull the left handlebar lever. Engaging the brake brings the scooter to a complete halt after about 8 meters which is quite long.

The scooter doesn’t feature any form of lighting, meaning that it doesn’t support night riding. If you want to ride it at night, you can purchase a separate headlight, but rear visibility would still be an issue.

In terms of portability, the Razor E300 is quite heavy, weighing 42 pounds. The scooter cannot be folded, but you can dismantle the handlebars to make it compact for more accessible storage.

Its extreme weight means that the average kid cannot push the scooter once the juice runs out, let alone carry it. It’s therefore not ideal for commuting; instead, perfect for leisurely rides around the neighbourhood.

Is the Razor E300 Value for Money?

Whether Razor E300 offers value for money is debatable.

While the scooter is designed to provide the most optimized riding experience for both kids and adults with a powerful motor, decent top speed, and average ride quality, it lacks some vital features such as lighting, shock absorbers, dual braking system, etc.

Found in lowly priced models such as the Segway Ninebot eKickscooter Zing e10. All in all, it’s an excellent scooter for teens.

Who is the Razor E300 Suitable for?

The Razor E300 is ideal for both teens and adults, considering that it can support riders weighing up to 220 lbs. (120Kg).

Therefore, whether you’re a teenager or an older kid, you should be able to use this scooter comfortably.

Nonetheless, it’s primarily recommended for teenagers, given its design.

    Razor E300 Specs

    • Scooter Weight 43 lbs (19.05 Kg)
    • 250-Watt chain-driven motor
    • Range 7.5 miles (12.07 km)
    • Charge Time 10 – 12 hours

What we don’t like about the Hiboy S2 Lite

    red  Less powerful motor

    red  Lacks suspension

    red  Lacks off-road functionality

    red  Pretty long charge time

Summary of the Hiboy S2 Lite

The Hiboy S2 Lite is a smaller version of the Hiboy S2 and is designed for kids.

The scooter offers impressive performance with outstanding safety to keep kids safe while being entertained. The scooter implements a minimalist design with aluminium geometric design frames giving it a sleek appearance.

The handlebars come with simple textured grips providing maximum stability. The centre of the handlebars features an intuitive, stylish LED display that keeps track of the rider’s speed, battery level, settings, and cruise control.

The handlebar also constitutes a thumb-operated accelerator (on the right) and an electronic brake (on the left). The deck is quite long and embedded with a rubber textured grip to offer a safe and secure cruise.

Performance-wise, the scooter comes with a 250W motor that offers an impressive top speed of 13 mph and propels the scooter up 15 degrees inclines, carrying a maximum load of 180 lbs (81.6 Kg).

Like its larger version, S2 Lite integrates two-speed modes, i.e., Comfort (Beginner) that caps the speed at 9 mph, and Sports mode allows the speed to max at 13 mph.

What’s more, the scooter comes with a customized cruise and speed control.

To activate the cruise control, you just need to hold the throttle for 5 seconds. The cruise control is activated when you hear a beep, and the scooter would maintain that speed.

The S2 Lite is fitted with a 180 WH/ 5Ah integrated battery made from Lithium-ion cells. The battery offers an outstanding range of up to 10.6 miles (17 Km) and takes between 5 and 6 hours to charge to full.

On the scooter, the charging port is uniquely located on the top of the handlebar post rather than in the deck allowing for hassle-free charging.

Coming with 6.5 inch solid tyres and no shock absorbers front and back, the Hiboy S2 Lite offers average ride quality.

The solid tyres effectively soak up vibrations and impacts while riding on pavements and well-maintained paved urban roads.

However, considering that the scooter doesn’t have shock absorbers and the tyres are solid rather than being pneumatic (air-filled), the ride quality is still low. Your kid wouldn’t want to ride it on rough or bumpy roads.

The spacious, rubber gripped standing deck comes in handy to provide stability when riding, ensuring maximum safety, especially for kids.

The scooter is safe for kids thanks to the double braking system consisting of a front electric anti-lock brake and a rear foot brake.

Both brakes, when engaged simultaneously, bring the scooter to a smooth and safe stop with minimal braking distance.

However, it’s important to note that if the scooter runs out of juice, the electronic brake stops working, forcing your kid to use only the rear mechanical brake to slow down. The braking is still effective, though.

The S2 Lite is one of the most portable kid scooters weighing only 21 lbs (9.5 Kg), attributed to the aluminium geometric design.

Besides, the scooter implements an easy-to-fold design enhancing portability. It folds with just a few easy steps, plus the handlebars collapse down, turning into a compact package. The scooter can easily fit in tight spaces, including the boot of most cars.

The scooter is aesthetically pleasing with a four-lighting system: cool front light, front light, rear spotlight, and cool bottom light.

The beautiful lighting system featuring an alluring front stem light running from the very top of the handlebar stem to the folding latch, under-deck lighting, headlight, and rear red spotlight makes the scooter cool plus enhances night visibility.

The scooter also comes with a bell for smooth navigation in crowded streets.

Overall, the Hiboy S2 Lite is an advanced scooter for kids coming with enhanced performance and modern features.

Like most kid electric scooters, the S2 comes in three colour options: matte-black finish, stone white, and baby pink finish giving kids a wide choice.

Is the Hiboy S2 Lite Value for Money?

The S2 is worth every penny owing to its premium features that will indeed enhance your kids’ scooter riding experience.

Besides, the scooter offers a perfect balance between performance and portability at a great value.

Who is the Hiboy S2 Lite Suitable for?

With a max weight load of 180 lbs and a top speed of 13 mph, the S2 is best suited for teens with prior experience riding scooters.

The S2 is a bridging scooter creating a gap between smaller kid scooter models and adult scooters. It’s an ideal surprise for kids just getting into their teenage years.

Razor hasn’t disappointed with their E100 electric scooter model designed for kids above the age of 8. With an LED light-up deck and 10 mph top speed, this scooter will impress any child.

    tickicon  Twist grip accelerator

    tickicon  Beautiful lights

    tickicon  Hand-operated front brake

What we don’t like about the Razor E100 Glow

red  A chain-drive motor requires some form of maintenance.

    red  No bells or reflectors

    red  A bit loud

    red  Long charging time

Summary of the Razor E100 Glow

The Razor E100 Glow achieves a functional balance between price and performance.

The scooter has been designed to impress kids with its fascinating glowing LED lights that make it aesthetically plausible. The scooter features all-steel construction, accommodating riders weighing up to 120 pounds.

The LED-lit standing deck is really spacious-perfect for kids. It broadens from front to back and arches up to cover the rear wheel.

The handlebars integrate a twist throttle on the right and a handbrake on the left. With this design kids who are used to riding bikes won’t have any problem riding this scooter.

The design isn’t that sleek, considering that the wiring has been exposed. Nonetheless, the scooter still appears neat and comes in a wide variety of colours, including the Hello Kitty and bold black, allowing your child to choose an option that suits him/her.

The scooter is fitted with a 100W single-speed, chain-driven motor with a top speed of 10 mph (16Km/h).

The motor is linked to the rear wheel via a chain, making the scooter a bit loud while in operation. A top speed of 10 mph is perfect for kids ensuring they have fun or commute to school safely.

Twisting the throttle would light up the blue LEDs on the deck, giving your child some sense of satisfaction. The 100W motor is quite loud and may become a little irritating and grating for more extended periods.

The E100 comes with a rechargeable 24V (two 12V) sealed-lead-acid battery system lodged beneath the deck in a steel cage, right where the charging port and power switch are placed.

The battery offers an average range of 6.7 miles or 40 minutes of continuous riding. The battery takes up to 12 hours to fully charge. This is quite long considering the short-range.

Razor E100 Glow’s ride quality is satisfactory. The all-steel frame and fork provide a solid ride in paved or tarmacked roads or pavements.

Besides, the 8-inch air-filled front tyre helps mop up impacts providing a smooth and comfortable ride on rough surfaces. However, the lack of shock absorbers means that the ride quality is still below the average level.

Riding the E100 Glow is extremely simple, and your kid will have it all figured out in less than a day.

The rider controls the throttle and handbrake from the handles. The controls are well placed, and your kid can seamlessly brake or accelerate while riding.

Safety is paramount in most, if not all, kid electric scooters. The Razor E100 Glow ensures maximum safety with its safety features, including an anti-slip deck, a strong alloy steel frame, anti-slip handlebars, and the push-to-go throttle technology, ensuring riders are fully stable before engaging the motor.

With this technology, the motor doesn’t engage until the scooter hits a speed of 3 mph. The scooter also leverages the rear mechanical brake engaged using the handbrake placed on the left handlebar.

Nonetheless, however safe the scooter seems to be, always ensure your child puts on a helmet and other protection when riding the scooter.

Weighing 25.35 lbs. (11.5 Kg), the E100 Glow is relatively heavier than most kid electric scooters.

This is primarily due to the all-steel construction rather than aviation-grade aluminium construction typical of most electric scooters. The scooter also does not fold, limiting transportation or storage. If you’re looking for a scooter that you can easily fold and pack up in the back of a boot, the E100 is definitely not an option.

While the blue LEDs on the deck help make the scooter visible at night, the E100 is not safe to ride in the dark. It neither features headlights, tail lights, nor reflectors, meaning riding it at night is risky.

You can choose this scooter if you don’t want your child to ride past sunset, or you can attach a headlamp to the stem to facilitate night riding. The scooter also doesn’t include a bell or a lock-it’s best used around the home or neighbourhood. There’s, however, a kickstand that holds the scooter in an upright position.

Overall, the Razor E100 Glow suits kids with the friendly operation, just the right performance for kids, good safety levels, and average ride quality.

Your child will easily overlook its drawbacks when presented with a fun riding experience achieved with the LED deck light.

Is the Razor E100 Glow Value for Money?

Going for under £150, the Razor E100 offers excellent value, providing a balance between price and performance.

While the model comes with some drawbacks, including the lack of a bell and a noisy motor, the scooter is safe and comfortable for kids to ride. It’s a great holiday gift for your little one.

Who is the Razor E100 Glow Suitable for?

The Razor E100 Glow is designed for kids above the age of eight years.

User-friendly operations and safety features make the scooter convenient for kids with no prior scooter riding experience.

Since it can accommodate riders weighing up to 120 lbs. (54 Kg), the scooter can also be used by teens weighing less than the specified weight.

Summary of the Segway Ninebot E22

The Segway Ninebot E22 electric scooter comes with a bunch of features that make it one of the most advanced electric scooters for kids, specifically older teenagers.

The scooter is less childish, integrating a design and specs found in high-end adult scooters. However, as you would expect, the E22 has a capped top speed to make it safe for kids.

What’s more, the scooter integrates cutting-edge technology, making it perfect for teenagers with an eye for cool gadgets.

Segway has a reputation for making high-quality, safe, and durable electric scooters.

This is precisely what they have done with the Ninebot E22. The scooter is exceptionally well-built with chic charcoal grey paintwork with red stripes giving it a classy yet simple look.

Unlike most electric scooters, the E22’s battery is packaged in the handlebar stem rather than the underdeck.

The deck is, therefore, a bit off the ground, enhancing the ride quality. The handlebar encompasses intuitive thumb controls for throttle and regen brake with a sleek centred LCD.

In essence, the design is elegant and simple with an ergonomic, fluid handlebar for maximum stability and comfort while riding.

The Ninebot E22 comes fitted with a 300W (700 W max) brushless DC motor that can manage a top speed of 12.5 mph with 15% hill grade capability.

It’s fantastic how Segway managed to cap the speed at 12.5 mph (bicycle top-speed) with all that power to make the scooter safe for kids and beginner riders.

Most experienced scooter riders would consider the E22 a bit slow and shrug it off- but it’s perfect for kids and adult first-timers.

What’s more, the scooter integrates three-speed modes: Eco, Standard, and Sports Mode.

The different speed modes allow your kid to choose their most comfortable speed based on his/her riding experience or love for thrill. There’s also a cruise control functionality for better comfort and safety while riding.

The E22’s 5.1 Ah battery provides an outstanding range of 13.7 miles (22 Km) in optimum conditions.

However, the range may differ based on the riding mode, terrain, rider weight, etc. For an even more extended range, the scooter supports the possibility of attaching a second battery (sold separately).

The additional battery does not only double the range but also enhances the scooter’s overall performance, notably its speed. With the second battery attached, the top speed maxes up to 18 mph from 12.5 mph.

The scooter takes a short time, 3.5 hours, to fully charge, providing absolute convenience. The scooter also incorporates a Smart Battery Management System to ensure the battery’s longevity by protecting against short-circuiting, over-heating, over-charging, and more.

Riding the E22 is not only simple but also comfortable. The scooter offers a safe and comfortable riding experience with its innovative, patented anti-skid tubeless tyres filled with PU (polyurethane) foam.

The 9-inch tyres provide sufficient traction and damping, ensuring smooth rides over typical urban terrains. Better still, these tyres don’t require any form of maintenance and are puncture-proof.

Ride quality is further enhanced by the scooter’s ergonomic handlebars and expansive deck embedded with a grippy rubber lining for maximum stability and comfort in motion.

In rough terrain, the scooter performs dismally, resulting from the lack of shock absorbers and air-filled, pneumatic tyres, which offer a higher level of dampening.

The scooter is best ridden on well-maintained pavements, roadsides, or pathways. Your kid won’t have any trouble riding the scooter. The throttle and regen are intuitively placed on the handlebar facilitating seamless operation.

For maximum safety, the E22 features a dual braking system encompassing a front E-ABS electronic brake and the traditional mechanical brake operated via a mechanical foot brake at the rear.

The electronic brake is regenerative, converting kinetic energy to electric energy for an even more extended range. The scooter manages a braking distance of up to 4 meters, which is up to standard.

It also features a bell for smooth navigation in crowded streets. Just ring the bell to get people out of the way rather than braking constantly.

The ultra-bright headlight alongside a tail light makes the E22 safe to ride at night.

The tail light comes in handy to alert other road users of your presence. At the same time, the 2.5W LED headlamp focuses the light at a low angle on the road providing extra visibility up to 44.3 ft. (13.5 meters) and signalling your presence.

With such a powerful lighting system, you can be sure that your child stays safe when riding at night. For extra visibility, you can tell him/her to wear a high-visibility jacket.

Unlike most kid electric scooters, the Ninebot E22 is very portable.

Weighing only 29.8 lbs (13.5 Kg) and a slim, economical design, the scooter is super portable. It leverages the one-step folding mechanism, collapsing into a compact package that can effortlessly fit in the back of a car or even in a train luggage compartment.

Once folded, the scooter can easily be carried subways or up an elevator or staircase. Children may have some difficulties carrying it- you may need to assist your kid in carrying it.

The E22 is a technology-focused scooter that comes with a Mobile App and Bluetooth Connectivity support.

You can use the app to monitor your kid’s riding speed, location, and remaining juice.

The sleek LED display at the centre of the handlebar, appearing like an expensive digital watch, provides a whole lot of information, including battery level, speed, and riding mode, plus allows you to turn the power on/off, control the lighting system, and toggle between riding modes. It’s water-resistant with an IPX4 rating.

Is the Segway Ninebot E22 Value for Money?

There is no shadow of a doubt that the Ninebot E22 offers incredible value for money, especially when it comes to kids and teens.

The scooter has integrated adult performance with the highest levels of safety to achieve a near-perfect kids electric scooter.

Available for less than ‎£400, the scooter offers real value considering its premium technology-focused features plus the fact that you’re paying for a prestigious brand.

Who is the Segway Ninebot E22 Suitable for?

The E22 is perfect for kids between 14 and 19 years. Teens will enjoy riding the scooter to school or within the neighbourhood.

Since the scooter can support riders weighing up to 220 lbs (100 Kg), it still can be used by adults, preferably first-time riders.

red  Handlebar height can’t be adjusted

    red  Long charging time

Summary of the Pulse Performance GRT 11

The Pulse Performance GRT 11 electric scooter is an excellent option for younger riders.

The scooter is not overly powerful but offers a decent performance to thrill kids while still ensuring safety to the highest levels.

The design features a robust steel frame with a heavy-duty, contoured stem, rise bars, and comfortable handlebars. As such, the scooter manages to provide extra stability and protection to your kid as they ride, plus achieve durability, making it a long-term choice.

The scooter can comfortably accommodate riders weighing up to 120 lbs (54.4), thus perfect for lighter riders aged 8 years upwards.

The GRT 11 comes fitted with an 80W chain-driven motor that accelerates the scooter to a top speed of 8 mph. (12.9).

Capping the top speed to 8 mph makes the scooter well suited for kids with minimal riding experience. The scooter is powered by a 12-volt rechargeable battery system that provides a kids’ friendly range of up to 6.7 miles (10.8 Km) or 50 minutes of continuous riding at top speed.

You’ll definitely appreciate the LED light indicator to show the battery level and indicate when the battery is charging. The battery charges to full power in over ten hours-a pretty long time considering the short range.

The Pulse Performance GRT 11 is a safety-focused kid electric owing to its outstanding safety features.

There are two crucial safety features evident on the scooter. The first one is the Push-To-Go technology to make it safe even for beginners.

This technology ensures that your child is fully balanced on the scooter before the motor accelerates to top speed. In simple terms, it works to prevent accidental launches.

The second safety feature is the integrated rear foot brake ensuring safe stopping.

The brake works by disengaging the throttle, ensuring that the scooter stops quickly and safely. The scooter’s braking system is not only practical but also relatively easy to a use-your kid will have an easy time mastering how to use the brake.

When your kid needs to stop, they only need to press their heel against the integrated rear foot brake.

What’s more, the scooter’s single-piece composite deck is embedded with several extra sticky anti-slip tape to offer ultimate stability and control, enhancing safety.

These safety features coupled with the scooter’s high-quality steel construction guarantees maximum safety for your kid.

The scooter comes with 12 inches non-pneumatic polyurethane tyres that don’t need any form of maintenance plus won’t be subjected to puncture.

The polyurethane tyres provide a steady and smooth ride. However, the ride is more rigid and less comfortable as compared to pneumatic tires. Nonetheless, your kids will still be able to enjoy the scooter when riding on well-maintained roads and surfaces.

Unfortunately, the GRT 11 doesn’t support folding, limiting its portability.

However, the scooter weighs 18 lb. (8.2 Kg) thus can easily be pushed by children above 8 years if it runs out of juice midway through the journey. Besides, it features a kickstand allowing easy parking or storage in the garage.

The scooter doesn’t have a lighting system meaning it’s not safe to ride it at night.

It’s also not water-resistant and lacks vital additions such as a bell or an LCD found in most electric scooters today. Nonetheless, it’s an excellent option for kids, especially when it comes to safety.

Is the Pulse Performance GRT 11 Value for Money?

Retailing for less than ‎£100, the GRT 11 offers excellent value for money.

It’s a fantastic safety-focused kid scooter that ensures kids are well protected while having fun or commuting to a nearby school. Its durable all-steel construction, great range, decent top speed, and most importantly, safety features justify the price.

Who is the Pulse Performance GRT 11 Suitable for?

The GRT 11 is perfect for kids eight and older weighing up to 120 pounds.

It’s an excellent choice, especially if you’re looking for a safer option for your child.

Summary of the Mongoose React E4

The Mongoose React E4 is among three electric scooters that are part of the brand’s first complete line of electric scooters launched in New York for Toy Fair 2020.

The E4, in particular, is the most advanced of the three designed for kids above 13 years and weighing less than 175lbs. (79 Kg).

Compared to the React E1 and E2, the E4 comes with a higher top speed, shorter charge time, higher power, dual braking system, thicker tyres but with a shorter range. This makes it a better option for teens, especially those who have some experience riding scooters.

The React E4 features a lightweight aluminium frame and a spacious deck allowing for more stable and comfortable rides.

The lightweight design allows the scooter to be used both as an electric scooter and a kickscooter. If the battery runs out mid-journey, your kid can still ride the scooter thanks to resistance-free riding.

The React E4 is fitted with a high-power hub drive motor that tops out at 15 mph (24 Km/h), just the perfect speed for thrill-loving kids.

The motor is designed to ensure the safety of your kid by avoiding unplanned accelerations. To get the scooter up to speed, your child needs to kick-start it for some time and use the hand lever throttle to accelerate to top speed. This mechanism ensures absolute safety.

The scooter is powered by a long-lasting Lithium-ion battery with a decent 6 miles (9.66 Km).

The battery has an impressive charging time of 3 hours on a standard 110v home outlet and comes with a charger.

The ride quality is rather average, provided by the thick (152 mm) pneumatic (air-filled) tyres and the wide foot deck. The tyres offer a smooth ride on well-maintained pavements and paved road surfaces.

Besides, since the tyres have thick threads with higher ground clearance, they can easily glide over grass in well-maintained lawns making it possible for your kid to ride in the backyard as you watch over him or her. The spacious deck embedded with grip tape makes the ride not only comfortable but stable as well.

The React E4 is safe to ride thanks to the dual braking system consisting of a rear foot brake and electronic brake.

The hand e-brake disengages the motor, making stopping efficient and straightforward. The scooter, however, lacks a headlight or a rear tail light; thus, making night riding unsafe.

The React E4’s lightweight aluminium frame can be folded, allowing for ease in portability or storage.

What’s more, the scooter’s handlebar’s height can be adjusted to accommodate a wide range of riders. It also comes with a kickstand allowing for seamless parking or storage.

Overall, Mongoose React E4 is a decent electric scooter for young kids, teenagers and adults alike.

It comes with enough power and incredible top speed to cruise any pavement and well-maintained lawns. However, it lacks some impressive highlights found in other teen scooters, such as the Segway Ninebot E22.

Is the Mongoose React E4 Value for Money?

The React E4 offers really great value for money despite the lack of some features that we would have liked to have seen at this price point.

However, this e-scooter has a good top speed, decent range, excellent safety levels, and its user-friendly design makes the React E4 a definite option when it comes to a great kids scooter.

Who is the Mongoose React E4 Suitable for?

The React E4 is an excellent option for teens above 13 years that weigh less than 175lbs. (79 Kg).

The scooter’s high speed and ability to perform tricks (the front wheel swivels around 360 degrees) make it a perfect gift for kids and teens looking for a thrill, as well as teens needing a dependable and easy riding school commuter.

red  Low rider weight carrying capacity

red  No front or rear lighting

Summary of the Kugoo Kirin Mini 2

The Kugoo Kirin Mini 2 is an incredible kids scooter with plenty of power and impressive features.

The scooter has a simplified design to make it easy for children to ride.

Instead of the traditional twist or thumb throttle found in most adult scooters, the Kirin Mini 2 comes with a multifunctional foot pedal on the riding deck, that allows you to turn the scooter on and off, and accelerate by pressing the corresponding pedal with your foot.

The multifunctional pedal makes the scooter easy and safe to ride as it prevents unplanned acceleration.

The Kugoo Kirin Mini 2 is built from aluminium alloy, making it lightweight, durable, and very robust, supporting riders weighing up to 65 Kg.

Assembling the scooter is straightforward and involves simply unfolding the steering shaft and screwing in the handlebar grips. You shouldn’t have any trouble assembling the scooter and getting it ready for your kid to experience their first ride.

The Kirin Mini 2 offers really great performance for kids without being overly fast. It’s fitted with a strong 150W brushless motor, propelling the scooter to a top speed of 15 mph with almost no noise.

The scooter manages to climb normal inclines angled at 5 degrees. What’s more, the scooter integrates three-speed modes: 5Km/h, 10Km/h, and 15Km/h. Your kid can seamlessly switch in between the speed modes by gently footing the speed mode switch button of the deck pedal.

The deck has coloured LED lights that add to the scooter’s aesthetics and indicates the speed modes your kid is currently riding on.

Blue indicates 5 km/h, yellow 10 km/h, and finally red which indicates 15 km/h. The LED lighting also indicates the remaining battery power.

The Kugoo Kirin Mini 2 is powered by a 21.6V & 4Ah lithium battery that gives a decent range of between 10-15Km depending on several conditions, including the driving speed, weight of the rider, and road inclination.

The battery is placed underneath the deck and charges in about 5 hours, which is a decent average charging time.

The scooter offers a comfortable and fun riding experience. The front 8-inch rear and rear 6.5-inch maintenance-free rubber tyres naturally absorbs impacts from bumpier terrains providing a smooth riding experience.

Ride quality is further assured by the soft ribbed rubber handle grips and the high quality anti-slip deck, which is also pretty spacious.

While the Kugoo Kirin Mini 2 is fun, fast, and comfortable to ride, it’s safe as well.

The scooter features a dual braking system encompassing the electric brake and classic manual rear brake. The electric brake disengages the motor ensuring the scooter comes to a smooth and quick stop.

And in case the electric brake fails, which is very rare, the scooter has a friction plate (auxiliary brakes) located on the underside of the rearguard.

Your child simply has to stand on the rear mudguard with the heel of their foot, which will bring the scooter to a safe stop. Thanks to the dual braking system, the scooter has an impressive stopping distance of 3 to 5 meters.

On top of the dual braking system, the scooter also comes with an “Autoguard” feature which automatically disengages power whenever your child brakes, for even quicker and smoother braking.

Other safety features on the scooter includes high-quality tyre construction providing exceptional grip and water dispersion on road surfaces and the anti-slip sandpaper standing deck enhancing stability and making the scooter safer to ride.

The scooter is safe to ride in wet conditions since its IPx4 water resistance protects the scooter from splashes from all angles. Please note, that care should be given to not ride this scooter in heavy rains.

The solid tyres additionally offer excellent traction when riding in wet conditions. As this scooter does not come with front and rear lighting, please ensure your child wears a reflector jacket in case he/she rides during lower light conditions.

Alternatively, you can easily purchase and install a front light.

Weighing only 8.9Kg, the Kugoo Kirin Mini 2 is amazingly portable.

Better still, the scooter implements a creative folding design allowing for easy collapsing. To fold the scooter, your child needs to turn the pole to 45 degrees, unlock the buckle, move the pole and lock the pole to the rear fender.

The folded scooter measures 845x420x340 mm and thus occupies minimal space. As such, you can store it in compact spaces or next to you on a bus or train.

Overall, the Kugoo Kirin Mini 2 is a fantastic electric scooter for kids and teens looking to revamp their outdoor experience. It’s exciting, feature-rich, and, most importantly, very safe to ride.

Is the Kugoo Kirin Mini 2 Value for Money?

With good build quality, decent performance, great portability, and high safety levels, the Kirin Mini 2’s value is more than justified.

The scooter is among the best e-scooters for kids and teens in the market currently and will impress with its high speed, great range, fast charging time, and riding comfort.

Who is the Kugoo Kirin Mini 2 Suitable for?

The Kugoo Kirin Mini 2 is not too fast and also has a high safety level.

It’s therefore best suited for kids and teens weighing less than 65Kg. Please ensure proper safety precautions are followed when your kid rides this e-scooter.

Summary of the Viro Rides VR 550E

You kids will love the Viro Rides VR 550E electric scooter, coming in a myriad of colours and designs.

The scooter is both stylish, aggressive, and durable. Its body and frame are built from steel and aluminium, while its tyres are made from polyurethane, ensuring maximum durability and protection to your kid.

The scooter is easy to assemble, coming with the necessary tools so that your kid can get started with the scooter as soon as you receive the package.

The Viro Rides VR comes equipped with a 100 Watt DC motor with 10 mph top speed-just the right speed for kids.

The chain-powered motor is enclosed to ensure maximum safety of both the rider and the pedestrians. The scooter is powered by a rechargeable 12V 7Ah SLA battery which manages an average range of 6 miles or 40 minutes of continuous riding at top speed.

The battery takes quite long, up to 12 hours, to charge to full, marking one of the downsides of this scooter. A charger is included in the package for hassle-free charging.

Riding the scooter is both easy and pretty comfortable.

It features an easy-to-use thumb throttle control allowing for quick accelerations. The controls, including the braking handle and throttle control, are intuitively placed and within easy reach, meaning your kid won’t have any trouble riding the scooter.

The chunky 6-inch polyurethane tyres do well to absorb impacts from the road surface, facilitating a smooth ride.

The scooter’s deck is very spacious, allowing your kid to place both feet on it while riding for maximum stability and comfort. Better still, the deck is embedded by an anti-slip sandpaper-like material facilitating enhanced safety.

However, considering that the scooter that the tyres are rubber and the scooter lacks shock absorbers, riders still experience vibrations and impacts, especially when riding in rough roads.

To brake efficiently, the scooter comes with hand-activated rear safety brakes, which offers precision braking and performance.

The polyurethane wheel also provides sufficient grip for safe and efficient braking as well as total control while riding.

The high visibility LED running lights adds to the scooter’s aesthetics creating beautiful ground effect lighting. However, this is not the standard of night riding; thus, the scooter should not be ridden at night unless you outsource reflectors, headlamp, and rear lights.

Unfortunately, the VR 550E cannot be folded, limiting its portability. Nonetheless, the scooter is lightweight and can easily be kick pushed by your kid if it runs out of juice midway through their journey.

The scooter also features a kickstand allowing for easy parking and storage.

In essence, the VR550E is a decent electric scooter for kids, providing just the needed performance.

It’s a great option, especially if you’re on a tight budget.

However, it also lacks impressive highlights such as a dual braking system, water-resistance capabilities, mobile app support found in other models. Nonetheless, considering the low price, the lack these options is not an issue at all.
